Testimonials

"It is not overstating the case to say that Victor and Ayse have given me my life back. I had for too long let my health slide and, since giving up smoking just over a year ago, had piled on the weight. After just a few months of training with them at their fabulous, funky boutique gymnasium, I feel completely different and have far greater energy, flexibility, strength and stamina. I am also in a more positive frame of mind and in better shape than I have been for years. Everything they do has felt tailored to my individual needs – the pilates, the training and the dietary advice has all been a scientific, coordinated approach, each aspect complimentary to the other. Yes Equilibrio has a great atmosphere, yes Victor and Ayse motivate but, most importantly, you feel taken care of – by experts who really know their stuff. I cannot recommend them too highly." "I came to Pilates and Ayse after almost a year of trying to handle increasing pain from arthritis in my right hip.  The joint pain had resulted in many of the muscles around my hip and low back becoming weak and very, very tight which brought other problems as well.  I had difficulty walking and bending, and was very uncomfortable in my own body. My massage therapist and chiropractor had been recommending Pilates for quite some time but I kept persevering with my own, unsuccessful methods

Part of the reason I had resisted Pilates is that I feared I could not be successful just based on my own physical limitations and that I would have a hard time finding an instructor who would be willing to work within my limitations and not make me feel like I wasn't trying or wasn't a good candidate. After just the first session of Pilates, I could see the potential for some relief of my symptons, although I was still apprehensive about how far I could go within the discipline. I also felt comfortable with Ayse as I did not have any sense of disinterest on her part about working with a client with limitations.

After two or three more sessions, I had become a big believer in what Pilates could do for me (I felt a lot of improvement right away) and a big fan of Ayse's as well.  I felt a little better after every session and I completely felt that she understood my limitations and was more concerned about not pushing me too much than the opposite. Having experienced injuries herself, she understands how important it is for the client and instructor to communicate throughout the session on what feels right or wrong or too much or not enough. Pilates has to be both physically demonstrated and verbally cued, and Ayse communicates very well at both levels.  She is a very patient instructor, and is wonderful about giving not just running feedback but kudos for accomplishment, as well.

Ayse also understands the need to move forward gradually and that there will be some setbacks from time to time. But looking back, my progress has been fairly steady and I can easily say that after about 10 weeks, I feel better than I have felt in a year. I am still not where I want to be but I feel more convinced that I will get there as we progress from goal to goal.  I am sleeping better, walking better and feel much stronger throughout my body, not just in my hip muscles. If I could afford the time and money to do Pilates every day, I absolutely would do it. To top it all off, we have a blast together and I look forward to my sessions throughout the week."  Mary Colby

"Running trail ultramarathons over mountains, through forests and across deserts places a huge demand on my body.  The technical terrain, steep climbs, and long distances require me to have a strong core, great balance and toned muscles. I began taking Pilates to supplement my cross-training and provide me a workout that would give me all these.

Over the years I have taken Pilates from a number of instructors and Ayse is by far the best instructor I have ever had.  Ayse brings a significant amount of knowledgeable and experience to each of her sessions.  Her attention to proper form, her relentless support and encouragement, her cheerful countenance, along with her personal interest in her students' success and well-being make Ayse such a joy to workout with.  She takes great care to learn her students' abilities so that she is able to push them so that they gain the maximum benefit out of each routine. I have learned a tremendous amount from Ayse and my running has shown marked improvement since I started working out with her. As an example, for about a year prior to our workouts I experienced pain in my hip during running. I explained the symptoms to her and in two sessions the pain was completely gone.  She also showed me how to prevent further occurrences and the pain and has not returned.

Ayse is not only an awesome instructor, I consider her a good friend and always look forward to our sessions.  I encourage anyone, of any level, to seriously consider working out with Ayse. I guarantee you will not only look forward to your workouts with her but will be quite pleased with the results." Steve Holman
